A collection of various projects I've written music for as well as original music by me.
BOBBY AND SOL (2022) SOUNDTRACK
I handled all of the music heard in this film. Each song was written and timed exactly to the animatic, and I would adjust the song length and dynamics based on director's notes (and my own personal desire to plus it up). The music relies heavily on electric guitar mixed with spooky airy synths and very dinky, silly instrumentation. Most of the songs are very "groovy", and try to have a very upbeat boom-bap sound to match the bombastic vocal delivery and goofy tone. When the third act starts, I tried to make the music intense but still have a very driven beat and weird outdated synth sounds to keep the mood up and the vibe intense.
WHALE FALL (2023) SOUNDTRACK
I wrote the majority of music for this soundtrack except for the montage in the middle which was written by David Georges, who I brought on to do that song. The music was written to be timed very specifically to the animatic, accenting certain actions and weaving in and out depending on dialogue and mood. I went for a mix of folk/folk punk aesthetics mixed with undertones of ska and rock. All instrumentation was performed live to maintain a scrappy, rough feel to match the film's vibe.
METAL HEART (2022) SOUNDTRACK
I handled all of the music heard in this film. I tried to capture various warm tones, and mix acoustic instrumentation like a harp and acoustic guitar with an omnichord and synth pads. These instrumentation choices were meant to reflect the two main characters. I would send the director various demos based on temp music and the emotion of the scene, testing to see what worked and what didn't. Songs like the cue that plays in the final scene before the credits were written to start and end at very specific times.
THE DUST PIXIES (2022) SOUNDTRACK
Aside from directing and producing the film, I wrote all of the music in it. The songs were sourced from various demos I'd rewritten and rearranged to fit the film. I worked with drummer Zach Bonvenuto and keyboardist John Polace for specific cues, trying to create as much of an organic, human flavor to the songs to match the scrappiness of the band the film focuses on.
KINDRED NIGHT (2022) ADDITIONAL MUSIC
I wrote several hip hop and house inspired songs for this film wherever the original soundtrack wasn't fit. I wrote the bumper music that appears at 1:55 and 2:15 (as well as the credits) and the two house inspired songs at 2:26 and 3:39.
